Scope

Scope: This document specifies the specific operational technical standards and linear scoring requirements for body type appraisal of Holstein cows. This document is applicable to Holstein cow body type appraisal conducted by Chinese dairy cow appraisers. For other breeds of cattle, the appraisal can be carried out as a reference. Main technical content: 1. Body type appraisal position: The appraisal is conducted when the cow is in a normal standing posture. The appraiser's position selection varies according to the characteristics of different parts of the appraised cow. 2. Trait scoring standards: The appraisal operation standards and linear scoring values for 20 body type traits are provided in Appendix A. 3. Linear score value selection: For traits evaluated in specific parts, if the score value is within the corresponding range of linear scoring, the appraiser shall select the higher linear score value.
