Scope

Scope: This document establishes the production environment, cultivation techniques, pest and disease control, harvesting, preservation, and transportation for greenhouse-grown okra in the central and southern regions of Hebei Province. This document is applicable to greenhouse okra cultivation in the central and southern regions of Hebei Province. Main technical content: - Variety selection: Select dwarf, early-mid-maturing varieties with strong growth, heat tolerance, disease resistance, and high yield for planting in Shijiazhuang. Recommended varieties include "Fuxing 434", "Oukaier", "Shiqiu 2", and "Lujian". The yield per mu ranges from 2,000 kg to 2,500 kg. - Seed quality and usage: Seed purity ≥ 95%, seed purity ≥ 97%, germination rate ≥ 85%, moisture content ≤ 8%, and 1,000-seed weight 50 g to 60 g. The seed usage for seedling cultivation is approximately 250 g per mu. - Seedling cultivation: - 5.3.1 Preparation of nutrient soil for tray seedling: Mix mature farmyard manure and non-okra-grown garden soil at a volume ratio of 3:7, add 200 g/m3 to 300 g/m3 of NPK compound fertilizer and 80 g/m3 of 50% Multisporin WP, and mix well. - 5.3.2 Seedling timing: The okra seedling period is generally in early March. - 5.3.3 Germination: Soak the seeds in 50°C to 55°C warm water for 15 to 20 minutes, then continuously stir to reduce the water temperature to 25°C to 30°C, and continue soaking for 10 to 12 hours. Rinse with clean water and germinate at 25°C to 30°C. When 50% of the seeds show white roots, they can be sown. Use 32-hole standard trays for tray seedling. Compact the nutrient soil in the trays. The number of seedlings should be 10% more than the required amount. Sow 1 to 2 seeds per hole with a soil layer of 1.0 cm.
