Scope

This standard provides guidelines for the towing procedures for cargo ships and passenger ships in emergencies in accordance with Article II-1/3-4 of the SOLAS Convention.
Newly built cargo ships on or after January 1, 2010 should provide the prescribed ship emergency towing procedures, and all passenger ships should provide the prescribed ship emergency towing procedures before January 1, 2010. In accordance with Article II-1/3-4 of the SOLAS Convention, cargo ships built before January 1, 2010 are advised to provide the prescribed ship emergency towing procedures before January 1, 2012.
