Scope

Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for the terminology and definitions of Astragalus seedlings, the production conditions required for seedling breeding, plot selection, sowing, field management, pest control, seedling removal and grading, storage, packaging, and transportation. This document is applicable to the breeding and grading of Astragalus seedlings in Qinghai Province. Main technical content: 6. Sowing 6.1 Seed quality: Select new seeds from three-year-old plants that are free from impurities, mold, and insect damage, and have plump grains. 6.2 Seed treatment: Pour boiling water into the selected seeds, stir rapidly for 90 seconds, add cold water and continue stirring. After the water temperature drops to 40℃, soak for 2 hours, drain the water, and then sow the seeds. Alternatively, soak the seeds in a cool place until the seedlings break through the skin, and sow them promptly. 6.3 Sowing time: Sow when the soil thaws and the temperature stabilizes above 0℃. 6.4 Sowing quantity: 112.5kg/hm2 to 150.0kg/hm2. 6.5 Sowing method: It is recommended to use the broadcast sowing method. Mix the seeds with soil or fine sand and spread them evenly on the ridge. Cover the seeds with 1–2cm of soil, compact them slightly, and then cover them with straw to retain moisture.
