Scope
This document specifies the electrochemical test method for determining the intergranular corrosion sensitivity of heat-treated aluminum alloys (2XXX, 6XXX, 7XXX, and 8XXX) without protective coatings.
This document is applicable to castings, forgings, strips, plates, extruded profiles, and semi-finished or finished products of cast and forged heat-treated aluminum alloys. This document can be used for comparative evaluation of different grades of alloys, thickness related to chemical composition, and other factors, and can also be used to check the quality of the heat treatment process of the test materials. The test results help determine the intergranular corrosion resistance of the test materials and provide information on the quality of the heat treatment process.
