Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions of grafting and breeding techniques for highland big cherry seedlings, and stipulates nursery establishment, rootstock variety selection and breeding, seedling grafting, seedling grafting field preparation, and grading. This document is applicable to big cherry seedling breeding technologies in the Hehuang Valley of Qinghai Province. Main technical contents: 4. Nursery establishment 5. Seedling grafting 6.1 Pre-grafting rootstock treatment In the following spring, after the soil thaws and before the seedlings sprout, dig trenches with a row spacing of 40cm and a depth of 20-25cm, and plant the rootstock seedlings with a spacing of 15cm between each plant. Before planting, dip the rootstock seedlings in K84 (see Appendix A) for treatment. After planting, level the field and irrigate in time. 6.2 Pre-grafting management measures For spring grafting, remove the branches within 10cm of the ground of the rootstock. One week before grafting, irrigate moderately to maintain the moisture of the rootstock and promote the activity of the cambium layer. 6.3 Graft scion variety selection Select varieties with excellent quality, strong resistance to adverse conditions, high self-pollination rate, and good storage performance, such as Meizao, Raini, Russian No.8, Labins, and Samidou. 6.4 Graft scion collection Select healthy, disease-free and pest-free mother plants for scion collection. For spring grafting, collect scions before sprouting. The scions collected should be well-developed one-year branches with full buds, with 7-8 bud eyes per branch being appropriate. 6.5 Scion storage 6.6 Grafting period Spring, April-May. 6.7 Grafting method Use the plate bud grafting method.
