Scope

Main technical content: The Chinese nut, a species of Taxus wallichiana, is an evergreen tree that is cultivated through asexual reproduction from natural mutations of Taxus wallichiana. It is a second-level protected plant in China. It integrates fruit, oil, medicinal, and timber uses, as well as greening and ornamental functions, making it a rare economic tree species in the world and a unique precious dried fruit in China. 3.2 Improved fruit varieties should be pure, with intact grains, full kernels, and no abnormal odors (such as nutty or astringent flavors). There should be no dead seeds, moldy seeds, or oil seeds. 3.3 Selenium-enriched Chinese nuts are those that naturally accumulate selenium through growth processes or through selenium bio-nutrition enhancement techniques, rather than adding selenium after harvest. They must meet the requirements of this document for selenium content. 3.4 Selenium bio-nutrition enhancement techniques involve applying selenium-containing conditioners (or fertilizers) to increase the selenium content in edible parts through natural growth. 4 Requirements 4.1 Raw materials and auxiliary materials 4.1.1 Raw material production should comply with the requirements of LY/T 1773. 4.1.2 Processing water should comply with the requirements of GB 5749. 4.1.3 Food additives should comply with the requirements of NY/T 392. 4.2 Planting requirements According to the provisions of LYT 1773. 4.3 Selenium content requirements The total selenium content in selenium-enriched Chinese nuts should be ≥ 0.15 mg/kg, and the selenium content in selenium-containing Chinese nuts should be 0.075–0.15 mg/kg. 4.4 Sensory requirements They should comply with the provisions of Table 2.
