Scope

This document specifies the general requirements for the safety precautions, design, installation, accuracy, calibration and verification, and calibration records of automatic level gauges (ATGs) used for measuring the quantity of liquefied natural gas (LNG) during sea transportation or floating storage and trading operations. This document applies to ATGs used for LNG storage tanks that are fully refrigerated (i.e., under low-temperature conditions) or partially refrigerated and at or near atmospheric pressure, but it does not apply to ATGs used for pressurized storage tanks.
