Scope: This document specifies the terminology and definitions, target requirements, feeding management, inspection methods, marking, labeling, packaging, storage, and transportation for the production of selenium-enriched mutton sheep in Ningxia. This document applies to the production of selenium-enriched mutton sheep within Ningxia. Main Technical Content: 3. Terminology and Definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 Selenium-Enriched Mutton In the natural growth process of animals, to meet the nutritional needs for healthy growth and performance, micronutrient premixes (nutritional licks) are added to their diets according to national or industry feeding standards. Through biological conversion, the selenium in selenium-enriched feed is absorbed and deposited in the muscles and internal organs of sheep, with organic selenium (not exogenous selenium preparations added during slaughtering, processing, or packaging). The total selenium content meets the target requirements specified in this document. [Source: T/NSFST 001] 3.2 Selenium-Enriched Mutton Sheep During the feeding and management of mutton sheep, through the development of scientifically balanced diets and the processing and preparation of forage, the selenium in selenium-enriched feed is absorbed and deposited in the muscles and internal organs of sheep, with organic selenium (not exogenous selenium preparations added during slaughtering, processing, or packaging). The total selenium content meets the target selenium content requirements specified in this document. 4. Target Requirements 4.1 The selenium content requirements for selenium-enriched mutton should comply with the provisions of Table 1.
