GB/T 41706-2022 Metallic powders—Test method for determination of non-metallic inclusions in metal powders for powder forging
Basic Information
Scope
This document specifies a metallographic method for determining the level of non-metallic inclusions in metal powders using powder forging samples. This determination method requires that the powder forging samples have minimal lateral flow (<1%) during forging, and that the central area of the powder forging samples be free of visible pores when observed under a 100x magnification.
This document is applicable to detecting the content of non-metallic inclusions in powder forged parts. However, for parts with significant material lateral flow, it is necessary to adjust the neighboring separation distance or determine the required inclusion size through consultation with relevant parties.
This document is not applicable to determining the level of non-metallic inclusions in internally porous forgings. During the testing magnification process, residual pores are difficult to distinguish from inclusions. Excessive residual pores make it difficult to determine the distribution of inclusions.
This document can be applied to detecting materials containing manganese sulfide (pre-mixed or pre-alloyed). To meet the testing requirements for such materials, the neighboring separation distance needs to be adjusted from 30 μm to 15 μm.
