Scope

Main technical content: 6. Planting techniques 6.1 Site selection for planting: Select areas such as orchards and forest land, with sandy loam soil that is highly permeable and water-absorbent being the best option. 6.2 Pre-planting preparation 6.2.1 Propagation of Gastrodia elata: In April-June, cut down trees such as Qingkang trees or Huajue trees into 0.8-meter-long sections. After placing the Gastrodia elata mycelium in contact with the tree sections at an oblique angle, store them in pits. In January of the following year, tear the mycelium-impregnated tree sections into strips and mix them with Gastrodia elata seeds. After 24 hours of seed soaking, plant the seeds when the mycelium has recovered. The germinating fungi primarily include white mushroom species and small mushrooms. The inoculum wood is mainly Qingkang trees or Huajue trees. 6.2.2 Cultivation timing: The inoculum wood can be prepared 50 hours before planting. When the mycelium on the inoculum wood develops multiple hyphae with a length of 5-10 cm, the planting requirements are met. 6.2.3 Field preparation: - For flat fields, construct beds 80 cm wide, 10 cm deep, and of unlimited length. - For steep slopes, build terraced horizontal beds with a spacing of about 1 meter between beds. Retain trees and weeds on the edges of the beds to provide shade and prevent erosion of the bed edges or ridges. - For orchard land, construct beds based on the terrain and dig drainage ditches around the perimeter. 6.2.4 Planting timing: - Spring: March-April - Autumn-winter: October-November 7 Field management 7.1 Temperature control: After winter planting, cover the soil with 30-cm-thick branches, leaves, and weeds. In summer and autumn, use shading and irrigation to reduce soil temperature. 7.2 Water management: - Winter to Qingming Festival: Maintain soil moisture at 10-20%. - April-June: Increase soil moisture to around 60%. - June-August: Conserve water to cool and maintain m
