Scope
This document specifies the FDI information model. One of the main tasks of the information model is to reflect the topological structure of the automation system. Therefore, the information model represents the devices of the automation system and the communication connection network. The communication connection network includes characteristics, relationships, and operations that can be performed on the network. The types in the AddressSpace of the FDI server constitute a directory generated by a certain FDI package.
The basic types of the device FDI information model are defined in OPC UA (IEC 62541-100). The FDI information model specifies some special cases and explains how to use these types and how to generate content from the elements of DevicePackages.
The entire FDI architecture is shown in Figure 1. The architecture components within the scope of this document are indicated in dark color in the figure.
