Scope
This standard describes the process of system trustworthiness analysis and modeling, as well as the calculation of reliability and availability metrics using these models.
The Reliability Block Diagram (RBD) modeling technique is mainly used for systems that do not consider repairs or the sequence of failures. For systems that require consideration of the sequence of failures or repairs, other modeling techniques (such as the Markov method) would be more suitable.
It should be noted that although the term "repair" is frequently used in this standard, the term "recovery" is also applicable. Additionally, the terms "product" and "module" are widely used in this standard and can be interchanged in most cases.
