Scope
This standard specifies the principles, equipment, coating materials, and laboratory environmental requirements of the vacuum coating technique for revealing fingerprints. It also covers preparation for revealing, operational steps, and precautions. This standard is applicable to revealing latent fingerprints on the surfaces of most non-permeable objects and some semi-permeable and permeable objects, including objects that have been treated with "502" glue and then subjected to fumigation.
