Scope
Scope: This document specifies the technical requirements for measuring tools, measurement content, measurement methods, and measurement records for Angus cattle production and management. This document is applicable to performance measurement of Angus cattle in production and management; Main technical content: 3. Terms and definitions: There are no terms or definitions that need to be defined in this document. 4. Measurement tools 4.1 Facilities and equipment for measuring growth and development traits, fattening traits, and slaughter and carcass traits shall comply with GB/T 43838. Equipment for measuring meat quality traits includes meat pH meters, texture analyzers, colorimeters, electric heating constant temperature dryers, gas chromatographs, and amino acid analyzers. 4.2 Measuring tools shall comply with GB/T 43838. 5. Measurement content 5.1 Growth and development traits: Body weight and body measurements at various ages, including birth, six months (weaning), twelve months, eighteen months, twenty-four months, and thirty-six months. 5.2 Fattening traits: Starting weight, final weight, and daily weight gain during the fattening period. 5.3 Slaughter and carcass traits: Pre-slaughter weight, carcass weight, carcass grade, slaughter rate, net meat yield, bone-to-meat ratio, eye muscle area, back fat thickness, omentum oil weight, and kidney fat weight. 5.4 Meat quality traits: Meat color, fat color, marbling, shear force value, intramuscular fat content, pH value, drip loss, moisture, fatty acids, and amino acids. 6. Measurement methods 6.1 Growth and development traits: Measure body size and weight according to GB/T 43838 and record the results. Measurement indicators and methods include body height, body length, chest circumference, cross-section height, body weight, abdominal circumference, forearm circumference, ischial width, chest width, and loin width. 6.2 Fattening traits: Measure according to GB/T 43838 and record the results. 6.3 Slaughter and c
