Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, storage, and quality certificates for rare earth ultraviolet-emitting phosphors used in lamps.
This standard applies to phosphors obtained by high-temperature reaction of aluminum silicate systems, phosphate systems, and borate systems, which emit a main peak in the 280 nm to 380 nm wavelength range when excited by ultraviolet light at 253.7 nm. They are mainly used in low-pressure mercury vapor fluorescent lamps.
