Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, testing methods, marking, labels, and user manuals, packaging, transportation, and storage for antibody detection reagents (immunoblotting method) for human immunodeficiency virus (types 1 and 2).
This standard applies to reagents used for qualitative detection of human immunodeficiency virus (types 1 and 2) antibodies by immunoblotting (including recombinant immunoblotting), which employ the SDSPAGA method or direct dotting methods to fix multi-component antigens cleaved and purified from HIV virus or recombinantly expressed multi-component antigens at different positions on nitrocellulose membranes.
