Scope
This standard specifies the types, structures, functions, performances, and test methods of marine wind vane and wind speed indicators (hereinafter referred to as wind direction/wind speed indicators).
This standard applies to instruments and equipment installed on ships recommended by Chapter V, Article 5 of the amended 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) for measuring and indicating the wind direction and wind speed during their navigation at sea.
This standard does not apply to wind vane and wind speed indicators used for meteorological or scientific measurement and observation purposes.
