Scope

This standard specifies a test method for classifying the lubrication capability of saw chain lubricants when using guide plates and saw chains.
This standard designs a reproducible stress condition for saw chains and guide plates during sawing. The test demonstrates the ability of lubricants to reduce wear between various friction components.
This standard enables chainsaw manufacturers to provide recommended specifications and models of saw chain lubricants in their user manuals.
The test device is developed based on the design of the Swedish Testing Committee (SMP), and the test procedure also takes into account the long-term practical experience of the German Forestry Technical Committee (KWF) regarding biodegradable saw chain lubricants.
