Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining the ratio of anatase to rutile in titanium dioxide pigments by X-ray diffraction.
This standard is applicable to the determination of the ratio of anatase to rutile in titanium dioxide pigments. This method can also be used for titanium dioxide-containing pigment mixtures, dry coatings, liquid coatings, and powder coatings.
Method A in this standard is applicable to any sample that does not contain interfering substances or where interfering substances can be removed (see Appendix A); Method B is applicable to any sample where all phases in the sample can be accurately identified, and the crystal structure data of these phases can be obtained.
