Scope
This document describes the method of determining the particle size distribution using liquid-phase centrifugal sedimentation. The solid concentration is measured by the transmittance of light beams, and the resulting signal can be converted into a particle size distribution.
This document is suitable for determining the particle size distribution of powders dispersed in liquids, powders in slurries, and some emulsions, with a typical particle size range of 0.1 μm to 0.5 μm, a density higher than that of the liquid, all particles having the same density and comparable shapes, and no chemical or physical changes occurring in the suspension.
