Scope

This standard specifies the procedures for sample collection, culture of parasites, and microscopic examination during the diagnosis of Perkinsus infections, as well as PCR and fluorescence PCR testing.
This standard is applicable to the diagnosis of Perkinsus infections in aquatic animals such as clams and oysters, and their products, including Perkinsus marinus and Perkinsus olseni. It can also be used for the monitoring and epidemiological investigation of Perkinsus infections.
