Scope

This standard specifies the instrumentation, reagents, test procedures, data processing, and precision for determining the light stability of petroleum products. This standard is applicable to light-colored refined petroleum products, including paraffin, white oil, liquid paraffin, rubber filler oil, insulating oil, lubricating oil base oil, and jet fuel, with a light stability measurement range of +30 Saybolt color number to -16 Saybolt color number. This standard is not applicable to light petroleum products such as gasoline, solvent oil, and naphtha, as well as dark petroleum products such as diesel and lubricating oil.
