Scope
This procedure is applicable to the determination and estimation of the tensile strength of steel sections (H-beams, I-beams, steel plates, and steel pipes) used in industrial and civil buildings, as well as the reinforcement bars in reinforced concrete, using the Leeb hardness test method. The steel sections include Q235, Q345, Q390, and Q420 steels, and the reinforcement bars include HPB235, HPB300, HRB335, HRB400, and HRB500. The tensile strength range is between 370 and 680 MPa. This procedure is not applicable to the testing of construction steel with significant differences in surface and internal quality or internal defects.
