Scope
This standard specifies the method of testing the weight (thickness) of the surface coating of electrical steel using X-ray spectrometry. This method is used to measure the coating weight per unit area of the sample at room temperature, and the measurement results can also be expressed in terms of coating thickness. This standard is applicable to electrical steel with stable, undisturbed characteristic elements that exhibit high X-ray fluorescence intensity in the surface coating. The measurement range of a given coating material mainly depends on the available characteristic X-ray fluorescence intensity and acceptable measurement uncertainty, and varies according to the instrumentation and measurement methods used.
