Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions, environmental requirements, and sowing and seedling cultivation techniques for Coptis chinensis in Qinghai Province, as well as pest and disease control measures. This document is applicable to the production and management of Coptis chinensis sowing and seedling cultivation in areas with an altitude of 1,600 m to 3,700 m in Qinghai Province. Main technical content: 5. Sowing and seedling cultivation techniques 5.1 Land preparation and seedbed preparation - Pre-sowing irrigation and timely tillage. Tillage depth: 25–30 cm, followed by leveling with a rake. - Apply 45,000–75,000 kg/hm2 of composted organic fertilizer or 4,500–7,500 kg/hm2 of commercial organic fertilizer during land preparation. The organic fertilizer must meet the quality standards specified in NY/T 525. - The seedbed height is 5–10 cm, width 100–120 cm, spacing 30 cm, and length depending on the terrain. 5.2 Seed selection - Select mature, uniform seeds with full kernels, no impurities, and no pests or diseases. 5.3 Seed treatment 5.3.1 Fresh seeds - Harvest pods in summer or autumn, air-dry for 2–3 days, remove the seeds, and store them in a cool, dry place for 3–5 days. - Soak the seeds in 800 mg/L potassium permanganate solution for 1–2 hours before sowing, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and soak them in 200 mg/L gibberellic acid solution for 5–6 hours before rinsing and drying to remove surface moisture. 5.3.2 Dried seeds - Harvest pods, air-dry for 2–3 days, remove the seeds, and store them in a cool, dry place until dry. - Soak the seeds in 800 mg/L potassium permanganate solution for 1–2 hours before sowing, rinse thoroughly with clean water, and dry to remove surface moisture. 5.4 Sowing time - Fresh seeds are sown from late July to early August. - Dried seeds are sown from mid-to-late April to early May. 5.5 Sowing quantity - 450–600 kg/hm2. 5.6 Sowing method - Row sowing with a 4–5
