Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions for corn cultivation and harvesting machinery operations based on ridge tillage, ridge tillage, seeding machinery operations, and mechanical harvesting. This document applies to mechanical operations in the corn-growing regions of Ningxia; Main technical content: 3. Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions apply to this document. 3.1 **Ridge Tillage (Fenlong)** A farming method that uses non-continuous spiral drills or vertical spiral blade sets to vertically cut and crush soil in a single pass. 3.2 **Ridge Tillage Machines (Fenlong Machine)** Machines equipped with non-continuous spiral drills or vertical spiral blade sets capable of completing ridge tillage. 4. Ridge Tillage 4.1 **Technical Requirements** The ridge tillage depth should be 30cm–40cm, breaking the plow layer. After operation, the surface should be level and loose, with no under- or over-tilling. The tilling depth stability should be ≥85%, and the soil fragmentation rate in the entire tillage layer (≤4cm lumps) should be ≥85%. 4.2 **Machine Selection** Self-propelled, suspended, or tractor-drawn ridge tillage machines that have obtained an agricultural machinery promotion and appraisal certificate should be selected. 4.3 **Operating Methods** Depending on the plot conditions, circular, shuttle, or strip-till methods can be used. 4.4 **Pre-sowing Compaction** After compacting the ridge with a roller, timely compact the soil with a roller before sowing to meet the soil quality requirements for sowing. 5. Sowing 5.1 **Sowing Period** The local average temperature should stabilize at 12°C, and the 5cm–10cm soil temperature should reach and stabilize above 10°C before sowing. The suitable sowing period is generally mid-to-late April. 5.2 **Sowing Method** Mechanical single-seed precision planting. 5.3 **Technical Requirements** 5.3.1 Seeded corn planting density: 5,000 plants/666.7m2–6
