Scope

Scope: This document stipulates the basic requirements, construction principles, target tree species, cultivation techniques, supporting facilities, base management, and file management for the construction of large-diameter timber bases in Guangdong Province. This document is applicable to the construction of large-diameter timber bases in Guangdong Province. Main technical content: 4. Basic requirements: The construction of large-diameter timber bases shall meet the following basic requirements: a) Land use source. The land for the construction of large-diameter timber bases shall come from public welfare forests or commercial forests. b) Cultivation period. The cultivation period of large-diameter timber in public welfare forests shall be more than 30 years, and that in commercial forests shall be more than 25 years. c) Transportation conditions. The transportation should be relatively convenient, and the distance from the forest road to the base should be less than 1 km. d) Site conditions. The soil layer shall be ≥80 cm thick, and the water and fertilizer conditions should be good in the low-mid slopes of mountains or hills. e) Management conditions. The ownership of the forest land should be clear, and the management entities should own the ownership or use rights of the trees and have the willingness and high level of management. 5. Construction principles: The construction of large-diameter timber bases shall follow the following principles: a) Full-cycle, large-scale, standardized, and precise management. b) Adapt to local conditions, select suitable species according to local conditions, and choose high-quality tree species. c) Give full play to the multiple functions of forests, and balance economic and ecological benefits. 6.
