Scope

This standard specifies the method of differential diagnosis by combined RT-PCR for highly pathogenic strains of porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) characterized by a 30-amino acid deletion in the coding region of the non-structural protein Nsp2, and classical strains of PRRSV without the 30-amino acid deletion.
This standard is applicable to the detection of viral nucleic acid in samples such as serum and clinical materials from pigs suspected of being infected with PRRSV.
