Scope
Scope: This document specifies the terminology and definitions, as well as technical requirements, for the production of sweet buckwheat as a secondary crop after spring wheat in the Yinghe Irrigation Area of Ningxia, including environmental conditions at the production site, variety selection, seed quality, land preparation and fertilization, sowing, water and fertilizer management, weeding and cultivation, pest and disease prevention, and assisted pollination. This document is applicable to the Yinghe Irrigation Area of Ningxia. Main Technical Content: 3. Terminology and Definitions: The following terms and definitions apply to this document: - "Multiple-cropping after spring wheat harvested" refers to a multi-cropping model that enhances the utilization efficiency of agricultural resources such as light, heat, and land, improves economic benefits, and facilitates the integration of farming and breeding in the Yinghe Irrigation Area of Ningxia after spring wheat harvest. - "Production site environment": The soil selected should be fertile, with a deep and loose cultivated layer and good drainage and irrigation conditions. The water used for irrigation should mainly be surface water and groundwater, and the water quality should meet the requirements of the "Standards for Irrigation Water Quality" (GB 5084-2021). - "Spring wheat cultivation": See the "High-Yield Cultivation Techniques for Spring Wheat in the Yinghe Irrigation Area of Ningxia" (DB64/T 1060-2015). 6. Sweet buckwheat cultivation: 6.1 Variety selection: Select high-quality, high-yielding, and disease-resistant sweet buckwheat varieties with a growth period of ≤90 days, and ensure that the seed quality meets the requirements of the national standard GB 4404.1-2008. 6.2 Seed quality: Before sowing, dry the seeds in sunny weather for 1-2 days to remove unperfect grains (grains that are damaged but still edible, including insect-damaged grains, broken grains, moldy grains, and sprouted grains) and variou
