Scope

Main technical content: 1. Site selection: The nursery site should be located in areas with convenient transportation, flat and open terrain, water sources, good irrigation and drainage, sheltered from the wind, and sufficient sunlight. It can be flat or gently sloping land. Sites with serious pest, disease, or weed infestation are not suitable as nursery sites. Comply with the LY/T 1185 Nursery Construction Standards. 2. Site preparation: - 1–2 weeks before seedling production, prepare the nursery site by removing weeds, rocks, and debris, and finely grinding and leveling the topsoil. - Sprinkle 75 g/m2 of quicklime powder to disinfect the soil before plowing and leveling, or use 40% pentachloronitrobenzene WP at 9–10 g/m2 to disinfect the soil, followed by a 500–1000-fold dilution of 50% chlorpyrifos for pest control. - The seedling beds should be 90–110 cm wide and of variable length depending on terrain and operational convenience, with a 30-cm bed height. The bed surface must be level and the soil loose and fine-grained. Drainage ditches should be built around the beds to ensure proper water flow. 3. Container and substrate: - Small seedlings (10–14 cm) and large seedlings (14–20 cm) should be grown in degradable containers. - Suitable soil for container seedling production includes acidic (pH 4.0–5.5) or slightly acidic (pH 5.0–6.5) loose loam soil. 4. Shade shelter construction: - After preparing the seedling beds, erect a shade shelter with a height of >2.5 m and a stake spacing of 3–5 m. Use steel wires to frame a double-layered 75% shading net, and secure it tightly. A double-layered adjustable shading net is recommended for better light control. 5. Stock root cultivation: - Seed collection: In October–November each year, when tea fruits crack, collect fully mature tea seeds from local plants.
