Scope

Scope: This standard applies to forage mulberry varieties and the selection of nursery sites, seedling cultivation, forage forest establishment, water and fertilizer management, prevention and control of major pests and diseases, and harvesting. Main technical content: The mulberry tree belongs to the Moraceae family and is a deciduous tree. Its leaves are oval. The aggregate fruit (mulberry) is purple-black, light red or white, and juicy and sweet. The flowering period is in April; the fruit matures from May to July. Mulberry trees have a well-developed root system, strong sprouting ability, and rapid growth. They prefer sunlight and have a moderate branch density. They are also resistant to drought and cold, and tolerant of temperature and humidity. Their alkali resistance is also strong. Therefore, mulberry trees are a good species for water and soil conservation and sand fixation. In China, mulberry trees are grown in many places, from Liaoning in the northeast to the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau in the southwest, and from Xinjiang in the northwest to the southeastern coastal provinces.
