Scope

This document provides general and specific recommendations for the communication quality, connectivity, installation, performance, and maintenance of marine telephone equipment, including automatic telephones, public switched telephones, battery-free telephones, and acoustic telephones, as well as related performance tests (factory tests and field tests) and maintenance tests. The scope of application of this document is shown in Table 1. This document does not apply to digital telephones, network telephones (LAN (VoIP)), and wireless telephones.
