Scope: This document specifies the requirements for the origin environment, production methods, quality standards, testing methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of Dongfang sweet potatoes. This document applies to the production and sale of Dongfang sweet potatoes. Main technical content: 4. Origin environment: The production area of Dongfang sweet potatoes enjoys a tropical monsoon maritime climate, with an average annual temperature of 24–25°C, a long warm season and a short cold season. The average annual sunshine duration is 2,628.1 hours, with a maximum daily sunshine duration of 9.5 hours, and an average annual rainfall of 1,150 mm. Dongfang City is rich in water resources, with nine rivers including Changhe River, Naking River, Ganen River, Tongtian River, Luodai River, Beili River, Nangang River, Nanyao River, and Dongfang River. The soil in the production area is mainly sandy loam, with a deep soil layer and a pH value of 5–7, providing high fertility. The origin environment of Dongfang sweet potatoes meets the requirements of NY/T5010. 5. Production methods 5.1 Variety selection: Dongfang sweet potatoes are intended for fresh consumption, and varieties suitable for Dongfang City's cultivation conditions and with good marketability, such as Gaoxi No. 14 and Tulip Sweet Potato, are selected. 5.2 Cultivation management 5.2.1 Seedling selection: Seedbeds are selected in wind-free and sunny areas with fertile and loose soil, convenient irrigation and drainage, and free from diseases and pests. Seed potatoes weighing more than 150 g each, with smooth and bright skins and free from diseases and pests, are used as seed. The seed potatoes should meet the requirements of GB 18133. The width of the seedbed is 1–1.2 m, and the length is determined as needed. The average number of seed potatoes used per square meter of seedbed is 6–10.
