Scope

This document provides a foundation and guidance for evaluating the technical performance, processes, and interoperability of urban infrastructure, as well as its contribution to cities, and sets forth requirements and recommendations for future improvements.
This document is applicable to:
a) All types of urban infrastructure, including but not limited to energy, water, transportation, waste disposal, and information and communication technology (ICT);
b) Single types of urban infrastructure or multiple types of urban infrastructure;
c) All types of cities, regardless of their geographical location, size, economic structure, or stage of economic development;
d) All applicable stages of the infrastructure lifecycle (e.g., planning/design, construction, operation, decommissioning).
Note: The utilization of natural systems, such as green infrastructure, is also considered a type of infrastructure.
