Scope

This part of GB/T 31076 specifies the terminology and definitions of ancient books, as well as the classification and grading of ancient books.
This part is applicable to the classification of ordinary format ancient books; it is not applicable to the classification of other special collections, such as ancient books on bamboo slips and silk, Dunhuang manuscripts, Buddhist ancient books, rubbings of inscriptions and tablets, ancient maps, and foreign editions, etc. It is intended for use by libraries, museums, and other units at all levels across the country in the protection, organization, and utilization of ancient books, and it can also be used for reference by publishing houses, educational institutions, scientific research units, and relevant domestic and foreign organizations.
