Scope

This standard specifies the functional requirements of sound reception systems, recommends installation and performance tests, and provides guidance on methods and solutions to meet these functional requirements.
These requirements apply to fully enclosed bridgehouses and other bridgehouses that voluntarily install such equipment.
This standard specifies the requirements for ensuring safe and effective lookout in sea ships with fully enclosed bridgehouses.
This standard applies to the design of ship bridges. It also applies to:
a) Customers who order and purchase ship and bridgehouse equipment;
b) Operators and shipowners who ensure that changes made during the ship's lifespan still meet its requirements.
