Scope
This document describes the security risks of DHCPv6 and proposes two ways to enhance the security of the server against attacks such as spoofing: client authentication and encryption of communication between the server and the client. This document specifies the new DHCPv6 messages Encrypted-Query and Encrypted-Response, as well as the new DHCPv6 options Certificate, Signature, Increasing-number, and Encrypted-message, which are used to implement the authentication and encryption process of DHCPv6 to enhance the security of the DHCPv6 protocol. This document is applicable to scenarios of dynamically assigning user addresses in IPv6 networks.
