Scope

This standard specifies the high-performance liquid chromatography method for the determination of 13 prohibited colorants (Acid Yellow 36, Acid Violet 49, Pigment Red 53, Solvent Red 49, Basic Violet 1, Disperse Yellow 3, Basic Violet 3, Pigment Orange 5, Sudan I, Sudan Red II, Solvent Blue 35, Sudan Red IV, and Basic Violet 10) in cosmetics, as well as the mass spectrometry confirmation method. This standard is applicable to the quantitative determination of the 13 prohibited colorants in wax-based cosmetics such as lipsticks, nail polishes, and powders. The detection limits and quantitative limits of the 13 prohibited colorants in this standard are listed in Table A.1.
