Scope

Scope: This document specifies the terms and definitions of synchronized ovulation and timed artificial insemination technology for dairy cows in large-scale dairy farms in Ningxia, the selection of inseminated cows, preparation work, the operation procedure of synchronized ovulation and timed artificial insemination, evaluation of the effect, and precautions for operation. This document is applicable to the standardized operation of synchronized ovulation and timed artificial insemination technology for dairy cows in large-scale dairy farms in Ningxia. Main technical content: 3. Terms and definitions The following terms and definitions are applicable to this document. 3.1 Voluntary Waiting Period The period during which dairy cows recover their normal reproductive function after giving birth, generally 45–70 days after delivery. Insemination should not be performed before this time. It can also be adjusted according to the production performance of the dairy farm herd and the planned calving time. 3.2 Synchronous Ovulation and Timed Artificial Insemination The use of different exogenous reproductive hormones to treat a herd of cows according to a certain procedure, enabling them to simultaneously enter estrus and ovulate within a relatively concentrated period of time, and inseminating them within a relatively fixed time period. It is also known as programmed insemination technology. 3.3 Pre-synchronous Ovulation After giving birth, cows are pretreated with exogenous reproductive hormones, then treated with different exogenous reproductive hormones according to a certain procedure for synchronized ovulation, adjusting the postpartum estrus cycle of cows so that they can be inseminated in time after the voluntary waiting period. 3.4 Double Synchronous Ovulation The use of different exogenous reproductive hormones to treat cows continuously with the same procedure twice, adjusting the postpartum estrus cycle of cows, enabling them to be insemi
