Scope

This standard specifies the classification, requirements, test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of reference electrodes used for pH measurement.
This standard applies to general-purpose saturated potassium chloride reference electrodes with mercury/mercurous chloride and silver/silver chloride as the inner electrode materials. Other reference electrodes shall be implemented in accordance with this standard (hereinafter referred to as "electrodes").
