Scope

This document outlines the main pest risks associated with the cross-border transportation of used vehicles, machinery, and equipment (UVME), and stipulates the phytosanitary measures applicable to UVME: cleaning and treatment, prevention of contamination, requirements for facilities and waste disposal, and verification procedures. This document is applicable to the identification and classification of pest risks related to UVME that have been used in cross-border transportation for agriculture, forestry, horticulture, earthwork transportation, open-pit mining, and waste disposal, as well as to determining appropriate phytosanitary measures. This document does not apply to passenger transportation and commercially transported vehicles that rely on their own power for movement. New vehicles, machinery, and equipment should refer to this document for guidance.
