Scope

Main Technical Content: 3.2 Cultivation and Renovation 3.2.1 Pruning 3.2.1.1 Pruning Principles: - Light pruning on sunny slopes, and more pruning on shady slopes; - Heavy pruning in dense forests, and light pruning in sparse forests; - Heavy pruning for old trees, light pruning for strong trees, and appropriate heavy pruning for weak trees. 3.2.1.2 Pruning of Diseased and Insect-infested Branches: - Remove all parasitic and diseased branches from the tree. 3.2.1.3 Pruning of Fruit-bearing Branches: - Generally, only prune particularly weak, overlapping, overly dense, or diseased fruit-bearing branches or dead fruit-bearing branches. - Maintain a balance between nutrient branches and fruit-bearing branches. For vigorous plants, remove some fruit-bearing branches in large fruiting years and retain more in small fruiting years. 3.2.1.4 Pruning of Drooping Branches: - Cut off drooping branches that grow too low, receive insufficient sunlight, or have low fruit set rates, which affect cultivation. After pruning, the crown shape can be restored to its natural form. Keep branches that are healthy and capable of flowering and fruiting. 3.2.1.5 Pruning of Hyperbolic Branches: - For aging plants, select hyperbolic branches that can be used for crown replacement or main branches. Remove hyperbolic branches that grow during the early fruiting stage, on the trunk or other densely growing main branches, or on damaged main or secondary branches. 3.2.1.6 Pruning of Crossed and Internal Branches: - First remove diseased and insect-infested branches. If branches are still crossed or densely packed, prune them appropriately to improve ventilation and light penetration and increase the internal fruiting area of the crown. 3.2.1.7 Pruning of Clustered Camellia Oleifera Plants: - Prune weak, diseased, dead, crossed, overly dense, or drooping branches from multiple-stem clustered plants with dense crowns and overlapping branches to form a semi-spheri
