Scope

Scope: This standard specifies the environmental requirements for the production sites, cultivation techniques, integrated pest and disease management, harvesting, grading and packaging, storage and preservation, product traceability, and quality and safety requirements for single-season cattails (Zizania latifolia) and open-field double-season cattails. This standard applies to the safe production of high-quality cattails. Main technical content: 5. Cultivation techniques 5.1 Variety selection: The suitable varieties for single-season cattails include Meiren Cattail, Li Cattail No.1, and Jin Cattail No.1. The suitable varieties for open-field double-season cattails include Long Cattail No.2, Zhe Cattail No.2, and Zhe Cattail No.3. 5.2 Seedling production 5.2.1 Seedling bed selection: Seedling beds should remove male cattails, gray cattails, and mutant cattails. When transplanting, the row spacing should be 50 cm and the planting spacing 15 cm, with the depth being appropriate for the roots to enter the soil. In mid-March to early April of the following year, when the seedlings reach 20 cm in height, they can be divided and transplanted into the field for planting. For shoot stem-laying seedling production: 5.2.3 Two-stage seedling production: For double-season cattails, around March of the following year, after transplanting, dig up the seedlings when they reach 4-5 leaves and divide them into small cattail beds with 2-3 newly sprouted cattail shoots. Plant them in the seedling field with a row and planting spacing of 50 cm × 40 cm. In mid-to-late June, dig up the seedlings again and transplant them individually, removing the upper leaves and planting them accordingly. 5.2.4 Shoot stem-
