Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for three types and two categories of hoses, which are intended for use in the wet exhaust systems of marine engines (where the exhaust gas is mixed with the discharged cooling water). The three types are as follows:
——Type 1: Soft-wall hoses, made of oil-resistant materials and reinforced with synthetic fibers;
——Type 2: Hard-wall hoses, made of oil-resistant materials and reinforced with synthetic fibers and embedded with spiral steel wires;
——Type 3: Hoses or non-reinforced hoses (soft connections), made of oil-resistant materials, with or without reinforcement layers or outer coverings, intended for short-length use in areas to prevent mechanical damage to connectors.
The two categories are as follows:
——Category A, for diesel engines;
——Category B, for gasoline engines and diesel engines with very high exhaust gas temperatures.
This standard does not apply to outboard engines and/or personal watercraft.
