Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for the landfill disposal of extremely low-level radioactive waste (hereinafter referred to as extremely low-level waste), including disposal principles, guidance values for activity concentration in landfill disposal, and the requirements for the site selection, design, and construction of dedicated landfills, as well as the operation and closure requirements of landfills.
This standard applies to the landfill disposal of extremely low-level waste generated from the operation and decommissioning of nuclear power plants, nuclear fuel cycle facilities, and nuclear technology utilization activities.
This standard does not apply to the disposal of tailings and waste rocks from uranium (thorium) mining and metallurgy.
