Scope

This standard specifies the main dimensions, location, number of accessories, materials, and manufacturing quality of steel small weather-proof hatch covers (hereinafter referred to as hatch covers) used on ships, to ensure the interchangeability of hatch covers. The remaining dimensions are determined by the manufacturer.
This standard applies to hatch covers used in storage rooms and dry cargo holds for loading and unloading operations. This standard does not apply to hatch covers used as entrances and exits of any liquid cargo rooms, nor to hatch covers used as emergency exits.
The hatch covers specified in this standard generally comply with the requirements of the International Load Line Convention of 1966 (LLC66). And the possibility of hatch covers being used in positions 1 and 2 should be considered. If necessary, the hatch covers should be reinforced.
