Scope

This standard provides an overview and guidance for shipowners and fleet management system (FMS) operators in selecting and implementing network management services, which include:
a) Guidelines for general infrastructure, including broadband networks and data transmission services;
b) Guidelines for onboard installation, including application services;
c) Guidelines for onshore installation, including applications and database tools.
This standard does not address the requirements of safety-related systems, such as navigation, radio communication, and ship control systems.
This standard does not address environmental factors related to FMS.
