Scope
This standard specifies a method for detecting the residual stress of spring samples (spiral springs, leaf springs, and stabilizer rods, hereinafter referred to as "springs") using the principle of X-ray diffraction. The content includes the sources and classification of spring residual stress, the principle and method of X-ray stress testing, instruments, steps, data processing, test uncertainty, and test reports.
This standard is applicable to the testing of residual stress in springs made from ferritic, pearlitic, bainitic, martensitic, and austenitic steels. Other springs can be used as a reference for testing.
