Scope

This document applies to mobile cranes that use the following components:
a) Steel ropes, main booms, or main booms and fixed auxiliary booms (see Figure E.3 in Appendix E);
b) Steel ropes, main booms, variable auxiliary booms, and fixed auxiliary booms (see Figures E.1 and E.2);
c) Telescopic booms or telescopic booms and auxiliary booms (see Figure E.4).
Manufacturers of mobile cranes can use this document to verify the design of the mobile cranes shown in Figures E.1 to E.4.
This document describes the test procedure for measuring the stress generated in the crane structure under specified static load conditions by using resistance strain gauges on mobile cranes.
